Which Is The Best Miter Saw In Each Price Range?

Hot Tip
This is THE ULTIMATE GUIDE to Miter saws. It is a long in-depth article. If you are looking for something specific please use the table of contents above. Most items are available on Amazon, you may want to add them to your cart on Amazon and decide your final choice another day. I also suggest that, since this is such a long epic article, that you bookmark this article in your web browser so that you can finish reading it another day.

I don’t want to make a grand, sweeping statement about the one single, perfect miter saw on this list that will suit anyone and everyone no matter their needs or budget. The perfect miter saw for everyone doesn’t exist – but what does exist is the perfect miter saw for you. So, with that in mind, I concluded that the miter saw with the best balance between affordability, power, speed, cutting capacity, and size, was the Makita LS1019L 10-inch Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw.

It’s in the middle-tier price range, and will work if you’re on a budget of $500. You’ll notice I didn’t pick it as the best in its price range; but that’s because overall, it has a better balance of features for price out of all the miter saws, rather than being the biggest, fastest or most powerful in its price range.

It’s a great balance between portability and power, weighing just 52.25 lbs. but with a powerful 15-amp motor. It has a lower speed of 3200 RPM, but with all aspects of this model considered, it stands out as a great contender that manages to balance price and function.

The slide function allows you to make dual bevel cuts, unlike many of the single bevel models on this list. It can handle up to 12-inch crosscuts with its 10-inch blade and has a large miter range, from 52 degrees left to 60 degrees right.

Scroll down to the “Reviews of miter saws Under $500” category to read the in-depth review of the Makita LS1019L 10-inch Dual Slide Compound miter saw and see why I picked it as the best overall miter saw on this list. And make sure to look at each miter saw in your budget, as the model I chose as the best option might not actually be the most suited to your individual needs, like if you need a specific blade size or cutting capacity.

Individual Reviews of Each Featured Miter Saw

Below I’m going to go into the specifics for each miter saw in each price range and give you every detail you need to make an informed decision. So, let’s not waste any more time – we’ll start at the bottom, with the best budget miter saws under $100.

Reviews of miter saws under $100

Are you on a very tight budget? You’re in luck. While most miter saws cost several hundred dollars, there are also plenty to choose from that won’t break the bank.

Most of the miter saws in this category are best suited to those who want a miter saw for small projects, like framing and crafting. Miter saws under $100 are usually lightweight (though there are exceptions, like my best pick for this price range, the Homecraft H26-260L miter saw). This can be great if you want to be able to easily move it around or if you don’t have a big space or workshop set up for a larger miter saw.

Here you’ll find comprehensive reviews of the benefits, features, ratings and specifications of each of these low-budget miter saws. So, let’s get down to business.

Black+Decker M1850BD 7-1/4″ Compound Miter Saw

Black+Decker M1850BD 7-1/4" review The first model in this category, the Black+Decker M1850BD, is a compound miter saw with pivoting blades that are most useful for angled and beveled (slope-edged) cutting. A compound miter saw is perfect for projects like crown molding and picture frames where you need to cut on a tilt.

It’s a great little compact model, weighing only 17 pounds and measuring 15.2 x 15.8 x 17.5 inches.

This miter saw has a smaller than average blade, at 7.25 inches in diameter (the most common sizes of miter saw blades are 10 and 12 inches). This smaller blade will be useful for smaller projects, but if you’re planning on needing a miter saw that can handle longer cuts, then this model isn’t for you.

A great feature of this model is that it is quick and easy to use: there are nine positive stops that allow for a faster set up process and allow you to quickly access commonly-used preset angles.

With a range of 45 degrees both left and right, this saw gives you flexibility and maneuverability. This model has been certified by Amazon as “frustration-free”, which is good news for beginners. It runs on AC power, with a 9-amp ball-bearing motor; this is lower than the average 15 amps for a miter saw.

This model also includes some extra components which you’ll definitely benefit from if you don’t already have a lot of your own sawing equipment, such as a clamp, blade wrench, and dust bag. Dust bags are helpful for minimizing mess, as they collect sawdust as you work.

This model is best for those on a budget and who want something affordable and easy to use. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Black+Decker M1850BD Model here.

PROS CONS
Cheap Small blade
Compact and portable Limited Uses
Positive stops Not for big projects
Includes accessories

TruePower 919 High Speed Mini Miter/Cut-Off Saw, 2-Inch

TruePower 919 High Speed Mini Miter/Cut-Off Saw, 2-Inch evaluation I know I said the Black+Decker model was small, but this TruPower Mini Miter Saw is truly tiny. At just two inches in size and weighing three pounds, it’s definitely not something you’ll want if you’re looking at cutting anything bigger than 1.5 inches.

However, that makes this model perfect if you have a limited budget and only need the saw for small objects and materials, such as small photo frames, bullet casings, hobby models, arrows, bolts, and other small projects.

This model has a power capacity of 110 volts, requires AC power, and is surprisingly high speed, with a 7800 RPM motor. That’s a speedy little blade for such a small saw! But without any blade protection, the high-speed could be a recipe for disaster.

However, this model is certainly not for everyone. It will work best for those on a budget who need a miter saw that is high-speed and compact.

Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the TruePower 919 Model here.

PROS CONS
Small Limited Uses
Portable No included accessories
High-speed RPM No safety features

Hitachi C10FCG 15-Amp 10″ Single Bevel Compound Miter Saw

Hitachi C10FCG 15-Amp 10" assessment The Hitachi C10FCG model is a great little miter saw with some great features. It has high maneuverability, with up to 52 degrees range to the left and right, and up to 45 degrees to the left for bevel cuts. It includes positive stops for a faster set up.

This model includes accessories such as a dust bag, vise assembly, hexagonal bar wrench, holder, and a 24T TCT saw blade.

Weighing just 24.2 lbs., this 15-amp model is not as small as the TruPower model, but is still light enough to be portable. It measures 13 by 19 by 20 inches, and runs on 120 volts, with 5000 RPM.

It’s a cheap and versatile option if you are a beginner on a budget; does this sound like you? If so, you can check the current price and read customer feedback of the Hitachi C10FCG Model here.

PROS CONS
Stability w vice clamping system No laser marker
Includes accessories Only single bevel, not double
Portable Warranty not included; need to request from manufacturer

Homecraft H26-260L 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw by Delta Power Tools

For a miter saw that is both small and low-cost, this Homecraft model sure has a lot of great features. The 10-inch blade of this 14-amp model spins at 5500 RPM and has a laser for making super accurate cuts.

The Homecraft model has positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 30, and 45 degrees. You can also make single-bevel cuts up to 47 degrees. The small saw has dimensions of 21 x 13 x 13 inches, making it super easy to move from place to place.

If you’re worried about safety, this model has a spindle lock that holds the spindle securely while you are loosening or removing the blade nut during changes. It also has a handle for safer and easier operation of the miter saw. Make sure to be careful when adjusting so that you don’t break the control arm.

Some of the other cheaper models don’t have these features so make sure you know what safety features are included before purchasing.

This model is great for anyone on a budget who wants something easy to use. Buy the Homecraft H26-260L Model here.

PROS CONS
3-year warranty Not for heavyweight projects
Spindle lock safety feature Plastic control arm
Positive stops for accuracy
Dust bag included

Reviews of miter saws under $150

You’ll notice the saws in each price range get exponentially larger and heavier as you go up in price. In this price range you’ll find more lightweight, portable miter saws that can handle small to medium sized projects.

There are some great options here for beginners or hobbyists. If you want something that can handle big projects, I’m going to have to recommend looking at the higher price ranges, because these options simply won’t be able to cut it (pun intended).

Overall, I rated the Black+Decker SM1850BD 7-1/4″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw as your best option under $150.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – for the best miter saws under $150, these are your best options. So, let’s jump right in and take a look.

Hitachi C10FCE2 15-Amp 10-inch Single Bevel Compound Miter Saw

Hitachi C10FCE2 15-Amp 10-inch review At 33.6 pounds, this miter saw is a bit heavier than the options in the previous price range, but by spending a little extra, you get some more stability and better leverage. This Hitachi model has a larger table base, giving you better support for the job.

The 15-amp motor helps spin the blade up at to 5000 RPM for a strong cut on materials like wood, soft fiberboard, aluminum, hardboard, and plywood.

For greater manipulability, the blade has up to 52 degrees range left and right, and 45 degrees for single bevel cuts, with positive stops to speed up adjustments.

The thumb-actuated positive miter stops allow for simple miter adjustments between 0 and 52-degrees left and right. This design allows you to easily change the angle of the cutting blade for creating miters in crown molding and other trim pieces.

Included with this model is the 10-inch TCT blade, a dust bag, vice, box wrench, and a pivoting flip fence and extension for improved stability. The flip fence can be raised up to 4 inches for larger objects.

Hitachi Power Tools is a popular brand for miter saws, and for under $150, this model is sure to work well for those on a budget who want reliability (and something a little sturdier than the options in the under $100 category.) Check the current price and read customer feedback of the Hitachi C10FCE2 Model here.

PROS CONS
30-day satisfaction guarantee and 1-year warranty No laser
precision Not for heavy-duty projects
flexible miter range
great price for size

Ryobi ZRTS1345L 10 in. Compound Miter Saw with Laser Line (Certified Refurbished)

Ryobi ZRTS1345L 10 in. evaluation Don’t be turned off by the “refurbished” title; for under $150, a certified refurbished Ryobi model is great for your wallet. Being refurbished, it isn’t brand new, but it must undergo a rigorous reconditioning, testing, and repackaging process before being sold.

Amazon refurbishes products all the time and sells them at a much cheaper rate, and you can get a product that feels brand new at a fraction of the price. How can you say no to that? Plus, even on the off-chance there’s something wrong with your model, you have a minimum 90-day warranty.

Be warned, there could be some cosmetic blemishes on a refurbished model; but if it works like new, then it’s a pretty solid deal if you’re a thrifty shopper.

Bear with me as I get into the details – this model is quite lightweight, at 24.45 pounds and measuring 15.3 x 16.9 x 23.2 inches. It still has enough kick for your average DIY project at 5000 RPM and a 14-amp motor. It even has a built-in laser for more accurate cuts.

It’s only a single bevel model, with a bevel range of 45 degrees to the left, and positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 30, and 45 degrees. The miter range is 45 degrees to the left and right.

For something that’s like-new, you’re definitely getting the best value for money with this model. Check the current price and read customer feedback of the Ryobi ZRTS1345L here.

PROS CONS
Value for money No slide function
Laser for visual aid Doesn’t come with dust bag or other accessories
Electric brake for safety Refurbished, not new
Metal base, not plastic

Black+Decker SM1850BD 7-1/4″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Black+Decker SM1850BD 7-1/4" assessment While similar to the Black+Decker model in the Under $100 category, this model has a slide feature and is more heavy-duty, allowing you to accomplish bigger projects without breaking the bank.

At 23.15 pounds, and measuring 24.1 x 16.5 x 18.1 inches, this model has a great balance between value and effectiveness. However, with a 9-amp motor, this model packs a little less punch than the other models in the lower price range. It still rotates at 5000 RPM, which is a fairly good speed for this size.

At 90 degrees this model can cut 2” x 8”, and at 45 can cut 2” x 6”. That’s pretty good for a low-budget option. You won’t be disappointed with this compact model.

The slide action feature means you can cut greater widths, but the blade size of 7.25 inches might limit your options with this saw.

You can do more with a sliding compound miter saw rather than a stationary compound miter saw. The slide function allows you to work with denser materials, and it’s especially good for woodworking.

So, if you want a smaller, cheaper model that can handle thicker materials this is your saw. Check the current price and read customer feedback of the Black+Decker SM1850BD Model here.

PROS CONS
Slide function for denser cutting jobs Small blade
compact and portable Single bevel only
Comes with dust bag, clamp, blade wrench Only 9 amps, lower power than other models in $150 price range

Reviews of miter saws under $200

This price range has some great options for reliable saws on a budget.

Unfortunately, you’ll find most saws under $200 to be better suited to amateur home projects rather than heavy-duty professional work (if you’re going to be using the saw regularly and for big projects, you might have to increase your budget.)

But for DIY, irregular use, and smaller projects like base and crown molding, these models will definitely work for you. They’re fast and lightweight, and you’ll start to see more miter saws with bigger blades and better motors as you go up in price.

Overall, I rated the DEWALT DW715 15-Amp 12-Inch Single-Bevel Compound Miter Saw as your best option under $200.

But don’t just listen to me – let the details speak for themselves! Let’s take a closer look at your options for a miter saw under $200.

SKIL 3317-01 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw with Quick Mount System and Laser Cutline

SKIL 3317-01 10-Inch analysis Still at the cheaper end of the spectrum, this SKIL miter saw will suit anyone with a price limit who wants a reliable miter saw. The aluminum fence with ruler markers will be helpful for beginners.

For starters, the feature that stands out with this model is that is has a quick, three-step mount system onto the stand, but the stand is sold separately, meaning you’ll be spending more money to even be able to utilize this feature.

However, that’s not to say this is a bad saw. It’s got some great assets, like the table extension that allows you to work with bigger pieces. And while it has a laser guide, dust bag, clamp, and nine position stops, these are all features you’ll be able to find on some of the under $150 options, like the Ryobi and Black+Decker models.

In my opinion, it’s a good saw with good features; but make sure to check which features are most important to you (like a laser guide, or position stops) and see if there’s a cheaper model with those if your budget is important.

As for the specifics – this model runs on corded-electric power, and the 15-amp motor spins its 10-inch blade at 5000 RPM. It’s a little bigger than most of the cheaper models, at 23.8 x 16 x 16.5 inches, and weighing 30.65 pounds. It has a miter range of 47 degrees and can do a single bevel cut at 45 degrees. It also has a lock-off switch for safety, which is designed for both left- and right-handed users.

All in all, if you’re a beginner on a budget who wants something easy-to-use and reliable, look no further. Check the current price and read customer feedback of the SKIL 3317-01 10-inch Compound Miter Saw here.

PROS CONS
Good for beginners Stand sold separately
Laser guide for accuracy Higher price for similar features to cheaper models
lock-off switch Safety feature
dust bag and clamp included
table extension for larger pieces

WEN 70712 12-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw

WEN 70712 12-Inch analysis This is the first WEN product I’ve looked at; from what I’ve seen, WEN’s not as popular as brands like Bosch or DEWALT, but I decided to see how it measured up anyway. This is a 12-inch, 42.05-pound miter saw, which is the largest so far in the lower price ranges – it rotates at a speed of 5000 RPM and works with 15 amps of power.

So how much can this saw handle? With its size, this saw should be able to tackle boards up to 11.75 inches long and 3.5 inches thick.

If you plan on doing any angled cuts, it has a beveling range up to 45 degrees to the left. The miter range is up to 45 degrees both left and right. That’s pretty standard for a single-bevel compound miter saw. But what sets this model apart from the others?

Well, it definitely has the benefit of being larger in size than most low-price models; the saw measures 31 x 22 x 18 inches. It also has a large work table with positive stops at the more common miter angles (0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees) for quicker set up between cuts. You’ll also have 32 inches of support for your materials with the extended support arm.

If you need a saw that’s versatile, the 40-tooth blade can make straight, bevel, miter, and compound cuts.

This saw has great support accessories for your work: the clamp and fence help to secure your work, and you also get 32 inches of extra support with the extended support arms. The dust bag will keep clean-up to a minimum too.

WEN has a 1-year warranty for this model for peace of mind. If you’re a stickler for safety, there’s a retractable, automatic blade cover too. (But always make sure to wear protective eyewear and earwear when working with any power tools as well.)

So, if you want a versatile saw that will support the average hobbyist or home job this is your saw. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the WEN Model here.

PROS CONS
Extended support for larger materials No laser
Sliding arm No brake
Good for hobbyists and home jobs Not for heavy-duty professional jobs

DEWALT DW715 15-Amp 12-Inch review DEWALT is a popular and respected brand for miter saws. You’ll find that they have a bunch of different saws available in a number of price ranges, so you’re bound to find a DEWALT miter saw that will suit you.

Of course, you don’t want to make a purchase based on brand name alone. So, what does this DEWALT model have to offer?

It comes with a three-year warranty, a one-year free service, and a 90-day money back guarantee, which is handy if you’re concerned about the hassle of returns.

The benefit of this model is the versatility of its features. I did notice that this model has a lower RPM than most other miter saws in this price range, at 4000 RPM rather than 5000 RPM. However, it has more positive stops than other models reviewed under $200, with 11 rather than nine.

It isn’t cordless, so this could make it harder if you’re going to be using it in places where you won’t have access to a corded-electric power source. But it does have a carry handle to easily move it around. It also comes with a dust bag and blade wrench.

Now, to get down to the specifics – this model weighs 46.95 pounds, and measures 26.1 x 19.6 x 17.2 inches. It has a standard 15 amps of power,

It has a tall, sliding fence to move out of the way for bevel cuts. It can support up to 5.25” for crown molding and has 6.5” of vertical support for base molding.

It can handle up to a 2×8 piece of lumber for 90-degree cross cuts. For miter cuts, it can move up to 50 degrees to the left and right, and has a single-bevel range of up to 48 degrees to the left and just 3 degrees to the right. It even has rigid bevel stops at 0, 33.9, 45, and 48 degrees.

It has an adjustable miter handle for quick set-up and if you want to, you can override the miter detents for unusual angles.

This durable model is best for someone who wants a dependable, accurate, versatile model under $200 that can handle a range of cuts. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the DEWALT DW715 here.

PROS CONS
Large blade Requires corded electric power source meaning less portability
Versatile for a range of cuts Stand not included
11 positive stops Lower RPM than other models in price range
Carry handle

Reviews of miter saws under $300

Got a slightly bigger budget for your miter saw? While you might think that miter saws in this price range are all going to be less powerful and way smaller than those in the expensive categories, that’s not always the case.

You’ll find the SAY YEAH model has a large 12-inch blade, and the Makita LS1040 has as powerful a motor as many of the more expensive models. That’s not to say you’ll have heaps of range with these models; overall, you’ll be getting a miter saw for those smaller projects, as these saws will generally have less power and speed, but better portability and price. Overall, I rated the Makita LS1040 10-inch compound miter saw as your best option under $300.

But before I get ahead of myself, let’s look together at all the contenders.

Makita LS1040 10-Inch Compound Miter saw

Makita LS1040 10-Inch evaluation This 33.1 lb. model is lightweight like some of the cheaper models, but what you’re paying for is a better-quality saw. It’s also covered by a 1-year warranty for peace of mind.

It needs a corded-electric power source, and comes with the 10-inch blade, a vertical vise, dust bag, and triangular ruler. It can handle miter, compound, and single bevel cuts.

It’s great for home renovations and smaller jobs – and despite its size, it’s a powerful model, and can be carried around easily. It has a fluorescent light to help you work in less well-lit environments.

You can do precise miter and bevel cuts with this model, with nine positive stops at 15, 22.5, 30, and 45 degrees left and right. The miter range is 45 degrees to the left and 50 to the right, and it can handle single bevel cuts up to 45 degrees to the left.

Measuring 20.9 x 20.9 x 18.7 inches, with 15 amps and 120 volts of power, the 10-inch blade spins at 4600 RPM with electronic speed control. It has a soft start system to ease you into set up and is easier on the saw. Most other models have a no-start system, which is great for quicker set up, but can put strain on the miter saw.

For regular use, this small but powerful model will work great, and isn’t too expensive. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Makita LS1040 here.

PROS CONS
Small but powerful

Smaller blade size than Say Yeah 1700W model
1-year warranty No laser guide
9 positive stops

SAY YEAH 1700W Power Sliding Miter Saw 3800RPM with Laser

SAY YEAH 1700W Power Sliding Miter Saw 3800RPM with Laser assessment  This is the first Say Yeah product I’ve looked at so far. Do you need a miter saw that can handle bigger jobs? Well, compared to the other saws in this category, the SAY YEAH 1700W miter saw has the biggest blade (12 inches.)

As for the benefits, it has the advantage of a laser cutting guide for quicker and more accurate cuts with your miter saw. It also has a clamp to help keep your projects stable while you work.

The most interesting thing about this saw is the axial-glide system; a regular sliding miter saw allows you to make wider cuts but can take up more space, while the axial-glide system means you can “fold” the arm out of the way. This is helpful if you have a smaller workspace and want your saw to have more agility.

For quick miter changes, it has thumb actuated positive stops. It can handle miter cuts to the left and right up to 45 degrees.

However, it has a slower speed at 3800 RPM than the 4600 RPM of the 10-inch Makita model. It has a no-load speed, as opposed to the Makita’s soft-start system. It’s almost 11 lbs. heavier than the Makita model too, at 44.09 pounds. It runs on 110 volts and measures 37 x 22.1 x 22.5 inches.

I also couldn’t find any information about bevel features for this saw – which is a bit of a downside.

This is a saw under $300 that will work well in a small workshop and can handle bigger projects with its 12-inch blade. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Say Yeah 1700W model here.

PROS CONS
Larger size for tackling bigger projects No information about bevel capacity
Laser technology for guidance and accuracy Lower RPM than Makita model
Axial-glide system

DEWALT DCS361B Sliding Miter Saw (Bare),7 1/4in

This is the smallest model for this price range, and the lowest in power. Don’t be put off, though; it’s great if you want something lightweight and portable, and it has other benefits to consider.

The DEWALT DCS361B is battery-powered by a single lithium ion battery, but you’ll need to buy the battery separately as it isn’t included with the saw. Battery power is great for portability and working in any environment, but if you’re just going to be working in the one place and don’t want the hassle of replacing batteries, you’re better off with a corded-electric powered miter saw.

Its lightweight design adds to the ease of portability and storage, so this is a great little model if you need to move it around a lot or don’t have a lot of space. The dimensions are 25.2 x 19.9 x 15.7 inches, and it weighs just 30 pounds, making it the smallest model in this price range. The blade is just 7.25 inches in diameter, so it’s definitely not a miter saw for larger professional jobs.

It only runs on 20 volts of power with a speed of 3750 RPM. That’s the lowest in this price range, but if you’re just working on smaller home projects, it could be great; except there are much cheaper saws on this list with about the same specifications.

It bevels left up to 48 degrees. Vertically, you have up to 3.5 inches to work with. It has the capacity to cut 3  inches of crown molding in a nested position. The cam-lock handle helps you produce fast and precise miter angles.

The stainless-steel miter detent plate has eleven positive stops, and the fence support provides stability while you work. It has an integrated cross-cut positioning system for visible accuracy when you make cross cuts.

It comes with the carbide blade, wrench, clamp, and a 3-year warranty for peace of mind.

For the hobbyist with a slightly bigger budget, or the DIYer who wants easy portability, the DEWALT is a great choice. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the DEWALT DCS361B here.

PROS CONS
Portable Only 20 volts of power
Compact Small size
11 positive stops Battery not included
Lower RPM than other models in this price range

Reviews of miter saws under $400

These miter saws will overall have less power and smaller blades than your more expensive models, but will give you more portability with their size.

I found that the Genesis GMSDB1215LF 15 Amp 12″ Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser was the best option overall for under $400, as it can handle a wider range of cuts and is slightly sturdier than the other models.

But if you specifically are after speed, then the Hitachi is your better option, and the DEWALT DCS361M1 is battery powered if that’s a necessity for you.

Keep reading and you’ll know all there is to know about these miter saws under $400 and be able to choose the right saw for your budget. So, are you ready?

Hitachi C8FSHE 8-1/2-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser Marker

Hitachi C8FSHE 8-1/2-Inch analysis The first model I’m looking at under $400 is the Hitachi C8FSHE Sliding Compound Miter Saw. While the 8.5-inch blade can be limiting, it has some useful features.

A laser marker and positive miter stops will make aligning your work quicker and easier. This model has stops at the usual 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees, both right and left.

It also comes with a modifiable LED light for better visibility, which is good for working in poorly lit sheds or workspaces.

The bevel range for this Hitachi saw is 48 degrees to the left and 5 degrees to the right, which is more flexible than most of the other single bevel ranges I’ve seen so far.

The motor is less powerful than most other models, with 9.5 amps, but the blade spins at 5500 RPM, which is faster than average, and will saw through your tougher cuts.

Being lightweight at 32 pounds, this model is great for transportability.

It does come with a 5-year warranty, so if you have problems you can still return it.

However, with its size and motor power considered, this saw is best for hobbyists who want accuracy and portability. You can check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Hitachi C8FSHE here.

PROS CONS
Lightweight at 32 lbs. Small blade size
High-speed RPM Not a powerful motor
Flexible beveling range
LED light
Laser guide

DEWALT DCS361M1 20V Max Cordless Miter Saw

DEWALT DCS361M1 20V Max Cordless review The DEWALT DCS361M1 operates on a 20V battery back with the lithium ion battery and charger included. Being cordless and battery powered makes it excellent for portability, especially with its small design (it only weighs 31.6 pounds).

With its size considered, I wouldn’t buy this model for big projects, obviously, but it will work great for home jobs. It can fit material up to 3.5 inches vertically, 2×8 inches horizontally, and 3  inches crown nested.

It benefits from a built-in “XPS cross-cut positioning system” for a visibly accurate cut line.

A cam lock miter handle is included for quickly setting up precise miter angles, and the base fence will support your material as you work. The oversized bevel scale will be useful for accurate cuts, and the single left bevel ranges from -3 degrees to 48 degrees.

There are 10 positive miter stops on the adjustable stainless-steel detent plate for more accuracy in your work. This model also comes with the 7.25-inch carbide blade, blade wrench, and material clamp.

Compared to the other models in this price range, it is the smallest and least powerful. However, if you are already looking for lightweight portability, this model will satisfy, while giving you the best accuracy with your jobs.

Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the DEWALT DCS361M1 here.

PROS CONS
Smallest model in this price range for portability Lower speed RPM than other models in price range

Very small blade

Genesis GMSDB1215LF 15 Amp 12″ Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser

Genesis GMSDB1215LF 15 Amp 12" evaluation The Genesis GMSDB1215LF model was the best I saw in this price range. It’s the largest, sturdiest model, with the most power. (However, it does have a slower speed than the Hitachi miter saw.) So, what are the best benefits of this saw?

It’s battery operated, and comes ready-to-use with two AAA alkaline batteries included. Working on a battery means you can use your saw in more places that don’t need corded power, which can be super useful depending on where you plan to use your miter saw.

Another benefit is the built-in laser guide to get your work lined up perfectly, and the LED light that can be useful if you must use the saw in bad lighting and shadowy areas.

It also has a large aluminum table that gives you 38 inches of extended table support.

The best feature of this model is arguably the fact it can handle dual-bevel cuts so that you can tilt your saw both left and right for convenience when sawing crown molding. This is a great feature many of the cheaper saws don’t have.

For cross cuts, the handy sliding rail system means that the Genesis can handle 13  inches at a 90-degree angle, and over 9 inches at 45 degrees.

It has a 15-amp motor for more demanding jobs, and the 80-tooth carbide blade spins at 4200 RPM. The 12-inch blade means you can do larger jobs with ease, so consider this model if you want your saw to be able handle denser work.

There are nine positive stops and a spindle lock for quick set up between cuts.

Included is the installed blade, batteries for the laser, a rear foot bar for support, a clamp, blade wrench, dust bag, and extension wings.

For a powerful miter saw that is versatile and can handle a variety of cuts, including dual-bevel this saw is for you. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Genesis GMSDB1215LF miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Dual bevel Lower RPM than Hitachi model
Large blade
Heaviest model in price range for better stability

Reviews of miter saws under $500

You’ll notice this price range is where more professional-use saws start to crop up, with generally heavier models, bigger blades, and better specifications.

The models I review in this price range are the Bosch CM8S, Makita LS1019L, and Milwaukee 2734-20. They are all around the 50-55 lbs. weight range; overall, they are bigger but still portable, with mostly 10-inch blades. The power and range measure up quite well among all the contenders.

Overall, I rated the Milwaukee 2734-20 M18 FUEL Dual Bevel Sliding Compound 10″ Miter Saw as the best miter saw in this guide under $500. But don’t just listen to me – check out the details below for each saw to make up your own mind.

Bosch CM8S 8-1/2 Inch Single Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Bosch CM8S 8-1/2 Inch assessmentFor the first model in the under $500 category, I’ll be looking at the Bosch CM8S 8.5inch model. In this price range, it’s the smallest, most portable model, weighing just 37 lbs. and measuring 18.8 by 17.2 by 33.2 inches. The 8.5-inch blade might seem like a drawback, but it has the same crosscut capacity as a 10-inch miter saw (12.75 inches) despite its small size.

If you can afford it, it’s a great model for carrying from home to work or from job to job. It even has a handy carry handle at the top of the miter saw for greater portability.

It does require corded electric power, however, so this could affect its portability for you. It runs on 120 volts of power and the carbide-tipped, 40-tooth blade has a speed of 5600 RPM, the fastest in this price range.

It can handle single bevel cuts to the left from -2 degrees to 47 degrees. It has bevel stops at 0, 22.5, 33.9, and 45 degrees. The bevel lock and stops are reachable from the side of the saw for quick access.

You can do miter cuts from 52 degrees left to 60 degrees right, which is a pretty good range compared to other models. There are also 10 miter detents for quicker set up. You can override these detents with the thumb-actuated override for less common angles.

Considering its small size, it’s a stable little miter saw; it has an expanding base that can extend up to 29 inches both left and right.

It can handle crosscuts, miters, tilted bevel cuts, and slides for greater cutting capacity.

This Bosch model comes with a clamp, dust bag, and blade wrench.

Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Bosch CM8S miter saw right here.

PROS CONS
Fastest RPM in this price range Single bevel only
Same crosscut capacity as a 10-inch miter saw at 30% the weight No motor brakes

Portable
Front stabilizing foot for slide cuts

Makita LS1019L 10-Inch Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser

Makita LS1016L 10-Inch analysisMakita is a well-known brand with a wide range of miter saws, and their products come with a one-year warranty.

At 52.25 lbs., it is heavier than the Bosch model, but still much lighter than the saws you’ll find in the most expensive price ranges. It’s still lightweight enough to be portable.

This model is suitable for a range of jobs, including DIY, remodeling, furniture building, and more. It can handle professional jobs as well, unlike many of the cheaper models in this guide.

A drawback of the Makita miter saw is the slower speed of 3200 RPM as opposed to the 5600 RPM of the Bosch model and the 4000 RPM of the Milwaukee miter saw in this price range.

However, this Makita model has a powerful 15-amp motor and can make dual bevel cuts which gives it more range than the single bevel Bosch miter saw.

As for its capabilities, this saw can handle most cuts, with a capacity for 4.75 inches vertical baseboard cutting, and can handle 6  inches of vertically nested crown molding. According to Makita, it has the “largest crown molding cutting capacity in its class”. With its 10-inch blade, it can do 12-inch crosscuts at 90 degrees.

This saw can miter up to 52 degrees left and 60 degrees right, similarly to the Bosch model, and has positive miter stops to the left and right at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees.

It comes with a vertical clamp, dust bag, socket wrench, hex wrench, and triangular ruler.

As for dimensions, the Makita 10-inch miter saw measures 28.3 x 25.2 x 26.4 inches.

This saw is great for professionals or hobbyists who want a precise, powerful miter saw that can handle a range of cuts and have a budget of $500.

You can check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Makita LS1019L miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Dual bevel cut capacity Lower speed blade
Laser guide No stand included
Comes with accessories Pricier than cheaper models with same blade size and power

Milwaukee 2734-20 M18 FUEL Dual Bevel Sliding Compound 10″ Miter Saw (TOOL ONLY)

Milwaukee 2734-20 M18 FUEL review If you’re a carpenter or renovator who needs a miter saw that can handle more demanding jobs, you’ll find the Milwaukee model to be one of the cheaper models that will be suitable.

This miter saw runs on a long-lasting, REDLITHIUM HD 9.0 Ah lithium-ion battery pack. However, the battery is not included with this saw, so make sure to purchase the right battery (and battery charger) as well.

This is a great model if you’re looking for a cordless miter saw to replace a corded miter saw for more portability and maneuverability.

It has a brushless motor – which means the motor runs on the information provided by a circuit board rather than carbon brushes and a commutator, and it reduces friction in the motor making it last longer and have less wear and tear.

There are also 11 miter detents on a stainless-steel plate, with a cam lock system. The Milwaukee 2734-20 has the capacity for dual-bevel cuts, with 9 detents and an easy-to-reach handle for changing bevel angles. You can override the detents with a lock.

The 2734-20 also features a shadow cut-line indicator (to line up accurate cuts), and a lock lever at the front for holding the saw in place for chop cuts. It weighs 54.5 pounds and comes with a 10-inch blade that spins at 4000 RPM.

It can last for a whole work day on the job, making up to 400 cuts per battery pack.

If you need a saw that has enormous portability and can make accurate cuts over and over this saw is what you need. Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Milwaukee 2734-20 miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Brushless motor M18 Battery and charger not included
Dual-bevel capabilities Less miter range than Bosch or Makita models in this price range
Shadow indicator for accuracy No laser guides

Reviews of miter saws under $600

As we get to the more expensive price ranges, you’ll notice your options become much bigger models with more power and bigger blades.

There are still some 10-inch options, but you’ll also find more 12-inch miter saws available at this price.

Unfortunately, the bigger your miter saw gets, the less portable it becomes; especially in this price range, as you go up in price, you’re more likely to find miter saws that require corded electric power and are less moveable.

But you’re also more likely to find a dual-bevel, sliding compound saw in this price range, with more features.

Overall, my pick for the best miter saw overall under $600 was the Bosch GCM12SD 120-Volt 12-Inch DB Glide Miter Saw. But depending on your needs, a different saw might be more suitable.

So, want to know which miter saw under $600 is the best option for you? Keep reading to find out!

Makita LS1216L 12-Inch Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser

Makita LS1216L 12-Inch evaluation The Makita LS1216L miter saw is similar to its cheaper counterpart, the Makita LS1019L; they both have the same speed of 3200 RPM, but the Makita LS1216L miter saw is about 20 pounds heavier, at 74.96 lbs., and has a 12-inch blade.

It also has the capacity for a wider range of cuts, including dual bevel, miter, and compound cuts.

There’s a sliding fence that is five and a half inches tall and has both upper and lower fence adjustments to make all your cuts more precise. Your accuracy is improved with the laser guide technology that has adjustments and an independent switch.

This model has the lowest RPM of the miter saws I’ve reviewed under $600 at 3200 RPM. The LS1216L has a 15-amp direct-drive motor and uses corded electric power, which limits its portability.

There’s enough room with the LS1216L miter saw to cut up to 8 inches of nested crown molding, 6.5 inches for vertical baseboard cuts, and 15 inches for crosscuts at a 90-degree angle. The rear guard is retractable for more upright space.

The miter range for the LS1216L is 50 degrees left and 60 degrees right, and the saw bevels 45 degrees in both directions. There are positive stops for bevel and miter cuts at the most common angles.

Check the latest price and read customer feedback of the Makita LS1216L miter saw here.

PROS CONS
240 volts of power (double voltage to most other saws in this guide) Larger size and corded power reduces portability
Laser guide for accuracy Lowest RPM in this price range
Large cut capacity Adjustable fence not fixed to the base of the saw

Jet JMS-10SCMS 10-Inch Dual-Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw

Jet JMS-10SCMS 10-Inch assessmentThe Jet JMS-10SCMS miter saw is the next miter saw I’ll be reviewing in the under $600 category.

It benefits from a green laser that is supposed to give you better visibility than a red laser, especially if you’re outdoors.

All the controls are also positioned on the front of the miter saw so that you can reach them easily without having to unsafely reach around the machine while you’re working.

This Jet JMS-10SCMS model can handle a bunch of different cuts, including dual-bevel cuts. There are positive stops for you to lock your saw in at 0, 33.9, and 45 degrees, in both directions. The miter lock can be stopped at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees, both left and right.

Also, to be noted is that the miter gauge is just a sticker attached to the saw, rather than proper indents in the actual machine that won’t deteriorate over time. For such an expensive saw it seems like a cheap option.

Now for the specifics: The Jet JMS-10SCMS measures 17.3 (height) x 20.1 (width) x 23.2 (depth) inches and weighs just 56 lbs. making it lighter than the Makita LS1216L and the Bosch GCM12SD miter saws by about 20 and 10 lbs. respectively. The 10-inch blade can spin up to 4800 RPM – the fastest in this price range.

The 15-amp motor can handle a range of cutting jobs, so it’s suitable for professionals as well as home DIYers with a bigger budget.

You can check the current price and see customer reviews of the Jet JMS-10SCMS miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Up front controls for safety Corded power for less maneuverability
Xacta green laser guidance 10-inch blade smaller than other two miter saws in this price range (both 12”)
Powerful 4800 RPM, 15-amp motor Miter gauge is a sticker that can deteriorate over time
Expensive for a 10-inch saw

Bosch GCM12SD 120-Volt 12-Inch DB Glide Miter Saw

Bosch GCM12SD 120-Volt 12-Inch analysis The Bosch GCM12SD miter saw features a 12-inch blade and a powerful 15-amp motor with 3800 RPM.

It has the capacity for 14 inches horizontally, which is an inch shorter than the Makita LS1216L. The Makita LS1216L can also handle 8 inches of crown molding in a nested position, which is better than this Bosch model’s 6.5 inches. However, the two models have the same 6.5-inch vertical capacity. Make sure you take these dimensions into consideration, depending on how much room you need for crown molding or horizontal cuts.

You can bevel both left and right up to 48 degrees. You can stop the bevel at 0, 33.9, and 45 degrees both ways. The saw can make miter cuts up to 60 degrees.

There’s also an axial-glide system for making more room to work, like the SAY YEAH 1700W model in the under $300 category.

This saw comes with the 60-tooth blade, a clamp, blade wrench, dust bag and vacuum adapter. You can support material up to 40 inches with the base extensions, which is handy if you regularly work with larger materials.

For professionals who need a sturdy saw under $600 that has the capacity for a wide range of cuts this saw is a great match. Check the current price and see customer reviews of the Bosch GCM12SD miter saw here.

PROS CONS
12-inch blade Less capacity for horizontal and nested crown molding cuts than Makita LS1216L model
Dual-bevel capacity Lower RPM than Jet JMS-10SCMS
Upfront controls Heaviest model in this guide at 88.2 lbs. (While weight can be a plus for some who won’t be moving their miter saw much, I put it as a con here because a heavy saw reduces portability)
6ft of cord for extended maneuverability

Reviews of miter saws under $700

If you can afford them, the miter saws under $700 will generally give you great motor power and cutting range, and bigger blade sizes. They’re best for professional work and regular use.

For portability, the Milwaukee 2734-21HDP is your best option, but it has the lowest power. The Delta 26-2250 has the best speed, power, and cutting capacity, and the Metabo KGS305 is a heavy-weight option, great for stability and durability, but has less speed and range.

My best pick overall under $700 was the Delta 26-2250 12″ Dual Bevel Sliding Cruzer Miter Saw. Keep reading to find out how it matches up to the other contenders in this price range.

Milwaukee 2734-21HDP FUEL 18V Lithium-Ion Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw Kit with Bonus 2nd Battery

Milwaukee 2734-21HDP FUEL 18V reviewFirst off is the Milwaukee 2734-21HDP miter saw. This model is all about portability; it’s lightweight at just 45 lbs., cordless, with carry handles at the top and side of the miter saw. It’s battery-powered by a REDLITHIUM 9.0 Ah lithium-ion battery pack that comes included with your saw.

This miter saw is pretty similar to the Milwaukee 2734-20 that is featured in the Under $500 category; however, this more expensive model does come with the battery included, plus a second bonus battery. However, the models are pretty similar otherwise – the same bevel range, blade size, speed, and power. So, you’re really just paying for the battery pack and extra battery.

If you just want the miter saw and already have a battery pack, then I recommend buying the cheaper version of this model that is the tool only. You can buy the battery pack here separately.

The 10-inch blade can make up to 400 cuts per battery charge, so you could use it all day onsite and not run out of power. It has a pretty fast speed of 4000 RPM and the 18 volts will handle most house DIY or worksite jobs.

The dual-bevel range of 48 degrees is one degree more than the Delta model in this price range. There are nine bevel detents and a lever that is easy to reach. There are 11 miter detents on the detent plate and there is a cam lock system and a detent override system included. The Milwaukee 2734-21HDP also has a shadow line cutting indicator for making more accurate cuts.

Check the current price and see customer reviews of the Milwaukee 2734-21HDP miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Larger dual bevel range Same features as cheaper version Milwaukee 2734-20
Portability Small blade and overall size for the price

Delta 26-2250 12″ Dual Bevel Sliding Cruzer Miter Saw

Delta 26-2250 12" evaluation  This miter saw has less capacity than the Milwaukee 2734-21HDP for bevel cuts by one degree, at 47 degrees not 48 degrees, with 7 stops; but it can handle the same miter cuts as the Milwaukee model, at 50 degrees left and 60 degrees right, with 10 miter stops.

The Delta 26-2250 12-inch saw also runs as the same speed as the Milwaukee, at a fast 4000 RPM. It has considerably more power at 120 volts rather than 8 volts.

The 12-inch blade can handle crosscuts of 17.5 inches, and 7.5 inches of nested crown molding at 45 degrees or 6.5 inches vertical.

There is a front bevel release and a detent override too. Do you need to be able to access the miter controls one-handed? You can do that with the Delta Cruzer miter saw.

While it mentions “robot arms” in the description of the product, they seem to be referring to the aluminum folding support bracket that is supposed to fold out of the way to save you space in the workshop. You can also adjust the travel tension if you want to with this model.

This is a heavier model than the Milwaukee, weighing 57 lbs. with a heavy-duty base and a smooth slide for handling wider cuts.

The 15-amp motor should give you plenty of power for your projects, whether that’s a home venture or professional work. It also comes with a warranty for five years, which should give you peace of mind.

PROS CONS
Crosscuts up to 18 inches No laser guide
Attractive design No light
5-year warranty

Metabo KGS305 12-Inch Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Metabo KGS305 12-Inch assessment For under $700, this is a great option; it’s the second heaviest model in this price range I reviewed (after the Bosch GCM12SD), weighing 76.8 pounds. It’s a large, sturdy saw that you probably won’t want to be moving around too much; the Metabo KGS305 also requires corded electric power, so it’s probably not a good option for you if you want portability.

While it has less crosscut capacity than the Delta 26-2250 with just 12.5 inches rather than 18 inches, the sliding arm on the Delta model really extends its range, so consider than option if you need a wider cutting capacity.

The powerful 15-amp motor will be able to handle most jobs you throw at it, and the 12-inch blade can spin at 3800 RPM, less than the other two models in this price range.

You have control over the miter detents available and can set your own stops for when you’re doing repetitive cuts at an uncommon angle.

You can easily adjust the bevel angles with a front lever on the miter saw, and there’s also a function that allows you to set a fixed depth for all your angles. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find information anywhere about how much range the Metabo KGS305 has for miter or bevel cuts.

When you register online, you receive 3 years covered by warranty for your Metabo KGS305 saw rather than one year when you don’t purchase online.

If you want a sturdy, powerful miter saw and won’t be needing the larger range of cutting capacity of the Delta model, then this could be the saw for you.

You can check the current price and see customer reviews of the Metabo KGS305 12-inch miter saw here.

PROS CONS
15-amp motor Lower speed and range than other models
Detent override Heavy and corded model; lacks portability
Dual bevel capacity No laser

Reviews of miter saws under $1000

The saws here will definitely suit heavy-duty use and professional work, with some of the biggest range and blade sizes. These miter saws all have 12-inch blades and over. They have the capacity for a wide range of cuts – but they are all different and will suit you depending on your individual needs.

All of these selections are over $700 and under $1000 for a higher budget. Thankfully, for the price, these models will come with at least a 3-year warranty.

The higher in price, the heavier the miter saws tend to get; all of these options are over 55 lbs. each. Also, the larger the blade, the more likely the miter saw will need corded electric power rather than battery, so these models aren’t exactly a great pick for portability.

Overall, I decided that the best pick under $1000 was the Ridgid MS1290LZA Saw, 12-Inch Compound Sliding Miter with Laser.

But how does it compare to the other options on this list? Let’s get into the details – keep reading to find the perfect miter saw for you, under $1000.

Ridgid MS1290LZA Saw, 12-Inch Compound Sliding Miter with Laser

If you can afford it, the Ridgid MS1290LZA miter saw has some great features. It’s the fastest model in this price range that I looked at, spinning the 12-inch blade at 4000 RPM. It’s also the second heaviest model I’ve reviewed, at 81.4 pounds. It’s corded, too, so this is not a model that you can cart around from place to place easily.

Some benefits of this model include the three-year warranty, the bevel detent override stop pin, the laser for better accuracy and guidance, and the quick release miter and bevel locks that make changing between angles quick and easy. The sliding function and extended table also give you some extra support with your materials.

You can also mark the surface of the fence for certain cuts, and you can also adjust the blade depth if you want to make rabbet or dado cuts.

The Ridgid MS1290LZA miter saw runs on a powerful 15-amp motor and has a 2.5-inch dust port that you can connect a dust bag to; the dust bag is also included with your purchase.

You can bevel left and right to 47 degrees, and miter 60 degrees in both directions too. It has a 13.5-inch crosscut capacity, which is less than some cheaper models, so take that into consideration if you need to do crosscuts over 14 inches. This saw caters for a wide variety of cuts, so if you need versatility, this saw will work well.

Heavier model for sturdiness

Hitachi C15FB 15-Amp 15-Inch Miter Saw

Hitachi C15FB 15-Amp 15-Inch review At 3,400 RPM, the Hitachi C15FB is the slowest miter saw I reviewed in this price range, but it is the biggest blade on this list, at 15-inches in diameter. However, it only weighs 55 pounds, making it much lighter than the rest of the miter saws in this price range, despite its large blade.

It has slightly less voltage power than the other models under $1000, at 115 volts rather than 120 volts. It does have a 15-amp single-phase motor for powerful cuts. It requires corded electric power, so this could affect your ability to use the saw in any location.

The Hitachi C15FB’s miter range is 57 degrees both left and right. There are eleven miter stops (at 0, 15, 22.5, 30, 45, and 47 degrees both ways) for quickly accessing the more common angles.

It comes with the 15-inch blade, dust bag, wrench, extension guide, and vise assembly. The extension guide helps to support longer materials.

There’s also an electric brake (to help you avoid any mistakes or injuries) that stops the blade within seconds.

For versatility and the capacity to handle large projects with ease, this machine is for you. Check the current price and read customer reviews of the Hitachi C15FB miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Largest blade at 15 inches Slower speed
15-amp motor Expensive
5-year warranty Slightly less miter range than Ridgid MS1290LZA in price range
Lighter than other models; less sturdy considering blade size

DEWALT DW718 12-Inch Double-Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw

DEWALT DW718 12-Inch evaluation The DEWALT DW718 miter saw is the third contender in the under $1000 price range, featuring a 12-inch blade for tackling bigger projects.

The 15-amp motor spins the blade at a speed of 3600 RPM, which is slightly faster than the Hitachi C15FB but slower than the Ridgid MS1290LZA miter saw.

Benefits of the DEWALT DW718 include ten positive miter stops on the adjustable miter detent plate, made of stainless steel, and the capacity to cut crown and base molding.

You can cut up to 6  inches of nested crown molding, and 6.5 inches of vertical base molding up against the fence. You can slide the fence out of the way to make larger cuts; you can bevel cut lumber up to 2 x 12 inches at a 45-degree angle, and cross cut a 2 x 16-inch piece at 90 degrees. That’s a great feature if you need to make large bevel cuts.

While it doesn’t have the miter range of the other models in this price range, it still has quite a large capacity, with 60 degrees to the left and 50 degrees to the right.

The DEWALT DW718 comes with a carry handle, and while it is a corded saw, it weighs 65 lbs. and is still able to be transported quite easily.

You can check the current price and read customer reviews of the DEWALT DW718 miter saw here.

PROS CONS
Powerful 15-amps capacity for wide variety of cuts Slower speed than RIDGID MS1290LZA
Portable Lowest miter range in this category
Tall fence vertically supports 6.5 inches base molding

Bosch CM12SD DB Glide Miter Saw, 12-Inch

Bosch CM12SD DB Glide Miter Saw, 12-Inch assessment Now, for the last review, I’ll be guiding you through the details of the 12-inch Bosch CM12SD dual-bevel gliding miter saw. I hope all this information can be helpful to you in your quest to find the perfect miter saw for you!

Now, for the best features of the Bosch CM12SD. It has the same fast speed as the Ridgid MS1290LZA in this price range, at 4000 RPM. However, it is lighter than the Ridgid model, weighing 74 pounds.

It is corded, as you’ll find most miter saws in the upper price ranges to be. It has a heavy-duty 15-amp motor, and can perform most cuts you want to make, with a capacity for miter and bevel cuts.

There are bevel stops at the common angles 22.5, 33.9, 45, and 47 degrees, both left and right.

The bevel adjustments are reachable from the front of the saw for safety and quick access. You can bevel up to 47 degrees left and right with the Bosch CM12SD miter saw.

There are extensions on the base for 40 inches of support. You can use this saw for larger home projects or professional sawing work.

For greater stability, there’s a handy, modifiable stabilizer foot that you can use when making sliding cuts.

The Bosch CM12SD miter saw comes with a 3-year warranty, a clamp, dust bag, and the 60-tooth, 12-inch blade.

BUYERS GUIDE

Still have some questions? Here’s some basic pre-purchase checklists to read before you click “add to cart”.

What Are The Different Types of Miter Saws Available?

I’m going to just cover the basics here, for anyone new to buying a miter saw and unfamiliar with the different terminology.

A regular miter saw just makes crosscuts and miter cuts, and it doesn’t have bevel features.

Next, there’s the compound miter saw, which can make crosscuts, miter cuts, single or dual bevel cuts, and compound cuts (miter and bevel at the same time).

Upgraded from the compound miter saw is the sliding compound miter saw, that can make crosscuts, miter cuts, single or dual bevel cuts, compound cuts, and has a slide for making wider cuts with wider materials.

So, now that you have a handle on the basics, it’s time to think about what features you want with your miter saw.

What Features Should You Look For?

Every miter saw is different, and with so many to choose from, you are pretty much guaranteed to find the perfect miter saw that has all the features you want. But what features do you want?

Blade size is important for the size of materials you want to work with and the length of cuts you want to make.

Being able to make bigger cuts is helped along by a sliding fence that can give you more room. It’s a great feature that many miter saws in this guide have included.

A laser guide is a popularly mentioned feature, as it gives you that extra helping hand to make your cuts as precise as they can be.

An electric brake is also great for helping to avoid mistakes and accidents. Some models have this feature, but make sure to check before you buy.

A dust bag is a commonly included accessory, as it helps keep your work space clean and vacuums the dust out of your way.

Positive stops are helpful for accuracy and quicker work, as you can adjust your miter saw to common angles faster than setting the angle manually.

Depending on how portable you need your miter saw to be, consider whether you want your model to be cordless or corded. A cordless miter saw can be used in a greater number of places, so this feature could affect you.

What Do I Need To Consider Before Buying a Miter Saw?

Before you jump into purchasing that shiny new miter saw, stop and think –  what type of cuts am I going to need to make? Crosscuts? Miter cuts? Compound cuts? Bevel cuts? Not every miter saw can handle the same range of tasks. If you don’t need to make dual bevel cuts, you could find a cheaper, single-bevel model rather than pay for features you don’t need.

Also consider the size of your materials you’ll be working with; if you’re going to be working with big pieces of lumber, for example, you’re going to need a bigger blade and a powerful motor.

Another key thing to think about is how much portability you need with your new miter saw; if you have to move it from home to work or site to site, you should consider getting a smaller, cordless miter saw with a long battery life.

Best budget miter saw

The best budget miter saws would be those I have rated as the best in the more inexpensive price categories as follows:

These are good cheap miter saws that are quite affordable. However, you cannot expect that even the best cheaper price miter saws will have all of the  same features and perform as well and have all the functions as a good more expensive model.

Best budget compound miter saw

Again all of the best of the lower price range models mentioned above are compound miter saws. If you are looking for the best budget compound miter saw select one rated as the best under $100 or $150 depending on your budget constraints.

Best budget sliding miter saw

Sliding miter saws typically have the advantage over the non-sliding variety in that they can make wider crosscuts. However, they are a little more complicated and expensive to make than an ordinary compound miter saw. The best budget sliding miter saws are:

Any of the above sliding miter saws are highly rated. Choose based on your budget constraints.

So You’ve Read All The Reviews…Now What?

Well, now that you’re an expert on all the different miter saws in each price range, it’s time to go off on your own and decide which of these saws is right for you. Don’t forget to:

  • Check the comparison table above to see how the specifications of each of these models stack up against one another
  • Check the buyer’s guide above for any questions you might have
  • Read the individual review for any miter saw you’re thinking of buying to see all the pros and cons and find a link to the miter saw on Amazon

If you don’t remember, I rated the Makita LS1019L miter saw the best overall miter saw in any price range, for its balance between affordability and function.

Runner-ups include:

But the bottom line is, there’s not going to be one perfect miter saw for everyone. Only you can decide what will work best for you. And now that you have all the information, it’s all down to you to go through the details and pick that perfect miter saw for you. Can you really afford not to?
